RTP internacional
RTP Internacional is a generalist channel of the of the Portuguese public television service that broadcasts worldwide via satellite. All over the world – especially in countries with stronger Portuguese communities – many cable operators also include RTP Internacional in their basic packages. Due to time zones, the channel offers three different schedules, with broadcasts for Europe and Africa, the Americas and Asia. With some programs especially aimed at Portuguese and Portuguese descendants living abroad – a universe of almost 5 million people – RTP Internacional stands out for the weekly broadcast of a football game from the Portuguese League, always including one of the three “big ones”: Sporting, FC Porto and Benfica. Despite its generalist channel characteristics, RTP Internacional provides its viewers with 10 hours of news information every day. This means that more than 40% of the daily programming schedule is filled with news broadcasts that are broadcast live. The main programs on RTP1 are part of the schedules of RTP Internacional, as well as some content from RTP2, RTP Madeira and RTP Açores.
